On February 28, 2019, BusinessEurope, ETUC and SMEUnited organised the "Fact-finding Seminar on Digitalisation in the World of Work". The EU STEM Coalition was invited to provide a presenation to the social partners on the Dutch/Danish/Estonian 'Technology Pact' approach. In this approach the national objectives for STEM and digital skills are outlined in a 'Pact' signed by (in the Dutch case) over 60 key-stakeholders, including three national ministries, the regions, employer-organisations, labour unions and the education sectors. The presentation was given by Geert Asselbergs (coordinator of the EU STEM Coalition and Anne Marie Heij (representative of the Dutch metal industry assocation). The meeting is part of a larger series of fact-finding seminars.
The fact-finding seminars are organised in preparation of the negotiation of a European social partner framework agreement on this topic. The objective of the presentation of the EU STEM Coalition is to provide inspiration from existing, effective cooperation practices on Member State-level.
