Following a work visit to the Netherlands, the Danish region of Midtjylland organised a second Taskforce Meeting focussed on the preparation of a Danish Technology Pact. During this meeting regional stakeholders from industry, education and government discussed the various aspects of the Technology Pact approach as well as the objectives of the regional Technology Pact of the Midtjylland region.

Objective of the meeting: 

The objective of the meeting was to define the objectives of the upcoming regional Technology Pact of the region of Midtjylland, in preparation of the launch of the Danish national Technology Pact (inspired by the Dutch Technology Pact model). On behalf of the EU STEM Coalition the Dutch national STEM platform provided an inspiration session with examples from various Dutch regions to kick off the meeting.

Description: 

During a day-long meeting with various stakeholders from industry, government and the education sector the detailed objectives of the upcoming regional Technology Pact of the region of MIdtjylland were discussed. The meeting was hosted by the Danish House of Natural Sciences (member of the EU STEM Coalition). The meeting was kicked-off with an inspiration session about the Dutch Technology Pact (which inspired the development of the Danish Technology Pact). During the  session, various aspects of the the Dutch Technology Pact were presented by the Dutch national STEM platform (coordinator of the Dutch Technology Pact). The presenation covered:

 

  • National objectives of the Dutch Technology Pact
  • Their translation into regional action agenda's based on two regional examples in the Netherlands (Techniekpact NM Limburg and Techniekpact Rotterdam)
  • Financial instruments supporting their implementation (e.g. funding of public-private partnerships in VET)
  • Monitoring instruments and an overview of recent trends in STEM education and labour market

 

A variety of English and Dutch-language materials and case-studies were distributed among the participants after the meeting (see meeting documents).

Next steps: 

Both the meeting and the work-visit contributed to the formulation of the first regional Technology Pact in Denmark.
