The Flemish STEM Strategy (STEM Actieplan 2012-2020) required the steering committee to monitor developments in the STEM field based on pre-defined key-indicators. This publication provides an insight in the development of STEM uptake, transition to post-secondary education and graduates. The developments are monitored against the 'baseline' of the 2010-2011 academic cohort.
Initially, the STEM Monitor was updated every two years. Due to large demand for reliable data about the developments, from 2016 onwards the STEM Monitor is published yearly.
In the current (2017) edition performance data from the 2016 PISA study (secondary education) and Eurostat data regarding on number of graduates in higher education in 2013 and 2014 were included in the publication.
