On November 26, the MINT Report 2025 will be presented in Berlin together with the members of the BDA (Confederation of German Employers' Associations), the employers' association Gesamtmetall and the initiative "MINT Zukunft schaffen".
In the MINT Report, scientists from IW Cologne examine the labor market in the STEM field. The central figure that is determined there is the so-called STEM labour gap, i.e. the difference between the vacancies registered and the number of unemployed persons qualified for a STEM profession. This figure is of great importance, as the STEM disciplines and professions have a central influence on the innovative capacity and growth of the German economy. This means that they are also crucial for the success of the transformation in the coming years.
Nationales MINT Forum is pleased that they were able to attract high-ranking representatives from politics, science, business and civil society for the panel discussion on the results of the MINT Report and the special evaluation on the topic of "Immigration of STEM specialists via universities":
- Dr. Silke Launert, CSU, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Research, Technology and Space
- Jakob von Weizsäcker, SPD, Minister of Finance and Science of the Saarland
- Christina Ramb, Member of the Executive Board of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations
- Prof. Dr. Christoph Meinel, Chairman of the Board of "MINT Zukunft schaffen"
In addition, Dr. Jens-Peter Gaul, Secretary General of the German Rectors' Conference, will comment on the special evaluation from the point of view of the university associations. The event will be moderated by Dr. Julia Kropf.
