New strategy: A lasting boost to STEM for children and young people across Denmark

Astra (Denmark)  is launching a new strategy for 2025-2028 to strengthen teaching and promote interest in the natural sciences in a complex and changing world. This must be done through long-term solutions that create participation across geographical, social and professional boundaries.

Climate change, technological development and global crises underline the need for future generations to equip themselves with knowledge and action skills. With Astra's new strategy, a clear direction is set for how Astra as a national science centre will work to strengthen the quality of teaching in science and science – and promote interest in and recruitment to STEM programmes and careers.

Joint development of science teaching

The strategy is launched at a time of change: The subject renewal, the Primary and Lower Secondary School Quality Programme and a new reform of upper secondary education create a need to support teachers, trainers and management at all levels.

During the strategy period, Astra will sharpen its focus on our three key target groups – primary school, youth education and vocational education – and support teachers, educators and management through changes.

At the same time, the national science strategy has expired. The strategy has served as a gathering point for actors in the field, and during the strategy period, Astra will take a strengthened leadership, gather actors and facilitate collaborations so that the natural sciences area in Denmark has a coordinated and knowledge-based direction.
