On March 1, 2019 the Flemish STEM Platform (Vlaams STEM Platform) organised a work visit to PBT (Dutch national STEM platform). The work-visit was organised in preparation of a possible Flemish STEM strategy. The Flemish Agency for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (VLAIO) also participated in the work visit.

Objective of the meeting: 

The meeting aimed to provide an overview of the different types of interventions implemented by the Dutch national STEM platform as well as the Dutch national STEM strategy (Technology Pact) and a brief overview of the EU STEM Coalition's future plans.

Description: 

On March 1, 2019 the Flemish STEM platform organised a work-visit to PBT. The Flemish STEM platform is an advisory organisation. The Flemish STEM strategy (Vlaams STEM plan) is coordinated by VLAIO (the Flemish Agency for Innovation and Entrepreneurship) which also participated in the work-visit. 

 

The one-day meeting programme covered:

 

  • A general presentation of the Dutch national STEM platform
  • In-depth presentations and discussion of the flagship-programmes of the Dutch national STEM platform (Jet-Net&Technet in primary and secondary education and Katapult in higher education and VET)
  • An in-depth presentation of the current Dutch national STEM strategy (Technology Pact)
  • An overview of the upcoming plans of the international EU STEM Coalition network (and the possible participation of VLAIO)
Next steps: 

VLAIO will participate as an observer in the upcoming General Assembly meeting of the EU STEM Coalition and will be invited as an associate partner to the project proposal that is currently in preparation.

The 'Projectaanvraaganalyse MKB!dee is the first independent interim evaluation of the MKB!dee project applications. This evaluation mapped the background, geographic location and structure of the project consortia serving as a 'zero measurement' for future reference.
