Short summary:

On November 9, 2017 a work visit of the Danish region Midtjylland (Central Denmark Region) took place to the Netherlands. The main objective was to explore the regional dimensions of the Dutch Technology Pact (national STEM strategy) approach in preparation of the launch of the Danish Technology Pact (based on the Dutch model) in 2018. The Dutch national STEM platform (tasked with the coordination of the Dutch Technology Pact) provided presentations on the national and regional governance model as well as the Regional Investment Fund VET (RIF), one of the key financial instruments supporting its implementation. The work visit was followed by a second taskforce meeting in Denmark. Both meetings contributed to the launch of the first regional Technology Pact by the Central Denmark Region.

Objective of the meeting:

To explore the regional dimensions and impact of the Dutch national Technology Pact in the region of Noord-Holland (NL), as well as the governance model and implementation on both national and regional level in the Netherlands.

Description:

The Taskforce Meeting was requested by the Danish region of Midtjylland, as part of the work visit to Noord-Holland in preparation of the launch of the Danish national Technology Pact (launched in 2018), and took place at the SHIP centre in IJmuiden. The main goal was to explore the regional dimensions of this policy approach in the Netherlands. On the request of the province of Noord-Holland, the Dutch national STEM platform (PBT) - the national coordinator of the Technology Pact - provided two presentations:

  • Presentation 1: Governance and Impact of the Dutch Technology Pact
  • Presentation 2: The Regional Investment Func VET (Regionaal Investeringsfonds MBO)

The second presentation focussed on the Regional Investment Fund VET, one of the key financial instruments supporting the implementation of the objectives of the Technology Pact, which supports over 100 public-private partnerships in VET (see programme page for more information). The presentations were followed by a visit to Tata Steel, one of the participating companies.

On the request of the Midtjylland region the Taskforce Meeting was followed by a second meeting taking place in Denmark. Both meetings contributed to the successful launch of the first regional Technology Pact in Denmark.

Next steps:

A second Taskforce Meeting was scheduled on the request of the region of Midtjylland. More information about the Regional Investment Fund-model was shared after the meeting.
