STEM events to watch this autumn

The European STEM calendar fills up quickly after the summer. Across September, October and November, educators, policymakers, industry partners and STEM organisations will meet both online and across Europe to exchange ideas, explore new approaches and strengthen connections.

We have selected eleven upcoming events from the EU STEM Coalition calendar, including several organised by Coalition members and our own General Assembly.

September: talent, skills, engineering and AI

2 September | Inclusive Chips Forum Bratislava: Bridging Education and Industry for Diverse Talent | Bratislava, Slovakia
The third Inclusive Chips Forum brings educators, higher education institutions, VET providers, industry and policymakers together to explore how stronger collaboration between academia and industry can help attract, develop and retain diverse talent for Europe’s semiconductor sector.
 

7–9 September | Forum on Vocational Excellence 2026 | Graz, Austria
The fifth Forum on Vocational Excellence will focus on Dual Education and Training for Competitive Regions, bringing together vocational and higher education, industry and policymakers to explore stronger regional skills ecosystems.
 

7–10 September | SEFI 2026 Annual Conference | Prague, Czechia
EU STEM Coalition member SEFI brings the European engineering education community together in Prague for its 54th Annual Conference. Under the theme Engineering Education for Humanity, the programme will explore how engineering education can respond to societal and technological change, with topics ranging from AI and digital tools to sustainability, engineering skills and international cooperation.

11–12 September | 5th European Summit of STEAM Educators | Online
This year’s European Summit of STEAM Educators explores Agentic STEAM and the role autonomous AI agents could play in education while keeping educators and human-centred learning at the core. More than 45 sessions are planned across the two-day online programme.
 

October: making, coding and quantum technology

5–6 October | Making Teachers, Shaping Futures: Maker Education in Teacher Training | Weingarten, Germany
The first international conference dedicated specifically to maker education in teacher training will bring researchers, teacher educators, teachers and makerspace practitioners together to explore how making can become a stronger part of teacher education and school practice. The programme connects topics including sustainability, interdisciplinarity, entrepreneurship and creative learning.
 

10–25 October | EU Code Week 2026 | Across Europe
EU Code Week returns with activities designed to bring coding, computational thinking and digital creativity to schools and communities across Europe. Teachers, students, families, organisations and companies can all organise or join activities.
 

14 October | Webinar: Quantum Computing in STEM Education – The Supremacy of Quantum Algorithms | Online
EU STEM Coalition member Science on Stage Europe turns to quantum computing with a practical webinar for STEM teachers. The session introduces classroom-ready activities that help students explore how quantum algorithms differ from classical approaches, without requiring previous programming experience.

November: industry, teachers and the Coalition network

10–13 November | SEMICON Europa 2026 | Munich, Germany
Organised by EU STEM Coalition member SEMI Europe, SEMICON Europa brings the semiconductor ecosystem together at a time when skills, technological sovereignty and Europe’s future position in advanced technologies are high on the agenda. The event takes place alongside electronica at Messe München.
 

11–13 November | EU STEM Coalition General Assembly | Germany
Our own autumn General Assembly will bring EU STEM Coalition members together in Germany for three days of exchange, collaboration and discussion across the network. More information will follow as the meeting approaches.

13 November | STEM Digital Conference: Tech and AI to tackle teacher workload | London, UK
EU STEM Coalition member STEM Learning turns the focus to the practical use of AI and digital technology in education. Its STEM Digital Conference will explore how technology can help reduce teacher workload while supporting high-quality teaching and learning.

24–25 November | Teknikcollege 20th Anniversary Conference | Örebro, Sweden
Coalition member Teknikcollege celebrates 20 years of collaboration between education and industry. Its anniversary conference will bring companies, education providers, municipalities and policymakers together to exchange experience and look ahead to future skills needs.
